New Handbook Launched: Digital Rights, Safety, Information Integrity & Election Reporting

As journalism increasingly moves into digital platforms, journalists today face growing risks and challenges, from misinformation and AI-driven manipulation to online harassment, data misuse, and legal pressure, especially during elections.

This handbook is designed as a practical guide to help journalists, especially those working in the digital space, understand digital rights, information integrity, online safety, and responsible election reporting in Nepal’s evolving digital landscape. It brings together legal context, real-world risks, and actionable practices to support safe, ethical, and rights-based journalism.
This handbook is officially launched on 16 January 2026 during “Interaction Program on Information Integrity to Ensure Free and Fair Elections”, jointly organized by Digital Rights Nepal (DRN) and the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).

डिजिटल अधिकार, सूचना अखण्डता र निर्वाचन रिपोर्टिङ हातेपुस्तिका सार्वजनिक
डिजिटल युगमा पत्रकारितासँगै जोखिम र चुनौतीहरू पनि बढिरहेका छन् र त्यसमा पनि विशेषगरी निर्वाचनजस्ता संवेदनशील समयमा यस्तो जोखिम र चुनौती झन ज्यादा हुन्छन्। यही सन्दर्भमा डिजिटल राइट्स नेपालले नेपाल पत्रकार महासंघसँगको सहकार्यमा ‘डिजिटल अधिकार तथा सुरक्षा, सूचना अखण्डता र निर्वाचन रिपोर्टिङ (प्रयोगात्मक हाते पुस्तिका)’ तयार गरिएको छ।
यो हातेपुस्तिका विशेषत: डिजिटल स्पेसमा कार्यरत पत्रकारका लागि व्यवहारिक मार्गदर्शकका रूपमा तयार गरिएको हो। यस पुस्तिकामा मुलत: निम्न विषयहरू समेटिएका छन्

हातेपुस्तिकाले पत्रकारलाई सुरक्षित, सचेत, नैतिक र जिम्मेवार रिपोर्टिङ तर्फ मार्गदर्शन गर्दै निर्वाचनजस्ता लोकतान्त्रिक प्रक्रियामा सूचना अखण्डता र सार्वजनिक विश्वास सुदृढ गर्ने उद्देश्य राखेको छ।
