Digital Rights Nepal (DRN) successfully concluded “Promoting Digital Citizenship: Fact-Checking and Online Safety” on 24 January 2026 at ANSWER Nepal. The program brought together youth from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, creating a space for shared learning and dialogue.

This capacity-building initiative focused on digital rights, online safety, and information integrity, especially in the context of Nepal’s upcoming elections. Through interactive discussions, relevant examples, and practical exercises, participants explored how misinformation, disinformation, and unsafe digital practices can affect democratic processes, and how young people can play an active role in promoting a safer, more informed digital space.

Participants shared positive feedback, noting increased confidence in verifying information, understanding digital risks, and acting responsibly online. Many highlighted the relevance of the session in helping them become more critical, informed, and ethical digital citizens during a crucial democratic period.

The event was organized by Digital Rights Nepal (DRN) under the banner of the Digital Democracy Initiative, with the support of CIVICUS, DDI South Asia, and Accountability Lab.

Digital Rights Nepal is a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to the protection and promotion of digital rights in Nepal.
