DRN discussed the importance of digital safety, navigating the digital environment and legal/social status of digital rights in Nepal with civic leaders in Kathmandu on 30 December 2021. Importance of promoting digital rights in the context of growing digitalization in Nepal, need of constructive engagement in the policy processes, capacity building of journalists on digital rights issues and possible areas of collaboration among the civil society actors on digital rights issues were the key discussion areas.
Mr. Bipul Pokharel, Chairperson for Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Mr. Shiva Satyal, Chairperson for Online Journalist Association, Mr. Taranath Dahal, Executive Director for Freedom Forum, Mr. Shree Ram Poudel, Media Expert and Lecturer and Mr. Narayan Bhattarai, Media expert participated the meeting and actively discussed around the issues.
