The Nepal National Summit on Artificial Intelligence, themed “Harnessing the Potential of AI: Its Impact on Media, Public Service, and Governance,” was successfully held on June 15, 2024. The one-day event featured insightful discussions on the evolving role of AI in Nepal, with a focus on media, public service, and governance.

The summit was organized by the Digital Media Foundation in collaboration with the Internet Society Nepal Chapter (Open Internet Nepal), with strategic partnerships from UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and Digital Rights Nepal (DRN).

The event highlighted the increasing impact of AI technologies in various sectors of Nepal’s society and governance and brought together voices from across the country to address both opportunities and challenges. The summit encouraged collective efforts to chart a future path for AI in Nepal, in line with international standards and local needs. DRN, as a strategic partner, contributed to the discussions on AI governance and its implications for digital rights, emphasizing the need for rights-respecting AI policies and responsible innovation.  For more explore the report.
