Digital Rights Nepal (DRN) successfully conducted the program “Promoting Digital Citizenship: Fact-Checking and Online Safety” on 6 February 2026 at Narayani Model Secondary School. The session engaged high school students from the computer science stream, creating an interactive space for learning, discussion, and reflection.
The capacity-building initiative focused on digital rights, online safety, and information integrity, with particular attention to the role of digital spaces in Nepal’s upcoming elections. Through participatory discussions, real-world examples, and hands-on activities, students examined how misinformation, disinformation, and unsafe online practices can undermine democratic processes, and how youth can contribute to building a safer and more informed digital environment.
Participants shared positive feedback, reporting increased confidence in fact-checking information, recognizing digital risks, and practicing responsible online behavior. Many emphasized the session’s relevance in strengthening critical thinking and ethical engagement online during an important democratic moment.
The program was organized by Digital Rights Nepal (DRN) under the Digital Democracy Initiative, with support from CIVICUS, DDI South Asia, and Accountability Lab. DRN extends its sincere appreciation to Narayani Model Secondary School for its collaboration and support in making the program a success.
