📢 On June 29, Digital Rights Nepal, Amnesty International Nepal, and Sancharika Samuha jointly organized an Interaction Program in Lalitpur on the State of Digital Rights, Civic Space and Freedom of Expression in Nepal. The discussion focused on the implications of the proposed IT and Cyber Security Bill, Social Media Bill, and Media Council Bill.

🗣️ The event brought together editors from leading print, electronic, and online media, civil society leaders, and human rights defenders. Participants engaged in critical dialogue on the shrinking civic space and rising threats to freedom of expression in Nepal, while also identifying key gaps, challenges, and opportunities within the proposed legal frameworks.

💡 The event fostered a unified call from media professionals, civil society leaders, and human rights defenders for a thorough review of the proposed IT and Cyber Security Bill, Social Media Bill, and Media Council Bill. Participants emphasized the need for inclusive, rights-based lawmaking processes to ensure that these legislative measures do not undermine freedom of expression, press freedom, or civic space in Nepal.
